The article aims to provide information based on facts and does not intend to discredit those mentioned, but rather to remind that the times of great empires have not passed.
What Is a “Hidden State” and What Is an Empire
The hidden super states – who are they and why are they not official. To explain what a hidden state is, we must first explain what an empire is – a group of countries under a common supreme authority, centrally governed.
Today, there are hidden super states that are heirs of the empires of the great powers.
The United Kingdom – Heir of the British Empire
The United Kingdom is a hidden super state that is the heir of the British Empire, which at its zenith reached 1/4 of the world’s population as well as 1/4 of the landmass, thus achieving the golden standard from the time of the Habsburgs – “the sun never sets on the empire,” because the sun rises in one part and sets in another.
At present, it exists under the name Commonwealth of Nations, formerly known as the British Commonwealth, established in 1931, which is de facto the association of all colonies of the former empire, agreed upon after a series of conferences of the old empire.
Currently, the British monarch continues to be the official head of most of the colonies such as Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, the Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, and the United Kingdom.
It is important to note that the king is also the head of the Commonwealth of Nations, which includes 56 countries.
This naturally directs mutual investments and the overall course of utility, as the hidden empire continues to expand its collection with states that were not colonies, such as Cameroon (Africa).
Africa itself is almost entirely divided into English- and French-speaking countries with huge territories and unimaginable amounts of resources. For comparison, Africa is three times bigger than Europe. Naturally, other colonies are also used, for example in Latin America.
The global economy is connected through finance, which anyway passes through London (the City of London). For example, Germany, which is also a highly developed country and in banking as well, in no way has a chance to reach Britain or the London Stock Exchange.
We cannot fail to mention the United States as Britain’s good brother. It is no coincidence that Winston Churchill wrote the book The History of the English-Speaking Peoples, after he foresaw the future partnership with the United States.
The control of all colonies is achieved through so-called “soft power” – influence over governments, investments, and deals, for which the secret services also work. Of course, there are hidden super states that have lost interest in their colonies and do not have well-developed services to maintain them.
We see that even the recently imposed tariffs by the US did not cover Britain. On the other hand, the US concluded a deal for military cooperation in the Asian-Pacific Ocean as a counterbalance to Chinese influence, while Australia is subordinated to the King of Great Britain.
History shows many cases where interventions by England, France, or even Belgium occurred in states that had already gained independence but were former colonies. The metropolises simply cannot so easily give up their colonies, although in the 21st century the methods are different – such as investments (building infrastructure, schools, hospitals).
France – The Eternal Rival of Britain
Another hidden super state is France, which for centuries competed with Britain (the state of Louisiana was the property of France, later sold to the US by the French king).
To this day, there are many parts of the world that are French-speaking (for example, part of Canada). Of course, mainly in Africa, where the most important colonial struggle continues.
But France today does not have the necessary resources to control all territories, even though it has participated in overthrowing governments to continue control over already independent states.
There are also quite a few official territories such as the island of Mayotte (in the Indian Ocean). In the Pacific Ocean, they also have territories – New Caledonia, which is overseas and is territory of France, and therefore of the European Union.
The French themselves, however, do not have a great desire to maintain colonies, and this reluctance, along with the lack of a powerful organization like Britain’s, plays a role. After a series of socialist governments, this also withdrew France from direct governance.
Portugal – The Empire That Lasted the Longest
Another country with not so strong influence but with great potential, perhaps a surprise to some, is Portugal, which is less known than its western neighbors but in fact is the longest-surviving empire – officially until 1999, when it returned Macau to China.
They continue to control Brazil, which is a huge country with many resources. Through language and culture, ties for unification are maintained.
By the way, one of the leaders of the European Union – António Costa. Portugal’s influence in the UN is also great.
The former Portuguese Empire, and now a hidden super state, is interesting because its colonies are very scattered around the globe. In India lies Portuguese Goa, which is an extremely beautiful place.
Spain – The Legacy of Latin America
Spain should also not be underestimated, as it held almost all of Latin America except Brazil (belonging to Portugal) and Central America (under the United States). All those countries are Spanish settlers and Spanish-speaking, with traditions that continue.
Spain holds two cities in Africa “for color,” otherwise it has no large territories there, but these two cities can also be considered territory of the European Union.
French Guiana in South America is the place from where European space rockets are launched.
Conclusion
Of course, in times like today, control is carried out by different methods than in the distant past, but it cannot stop. On the contrary – it will grow with the natural development of the world economy.
